Cases from the Clinic

In future newsletters I want to bring some human perspective and practical applications of the principles of "vocational rehabilitation" and the "evidence based management" of conditions that can result in work loss.

I'll be using some terminology that you may not have come across before, so I am in the process of writing some articles that will explain more about what things like Vocational Rehabilitation, and BioPsychoSocial actually mean.

Case History: This will tell you the background to the case and what sort of organisation sent them to me

Action Plan: This will outline what the rehabiliation plan is / has been to date.

From time to time we will follow up on cases and see what happened in the end. (If you have any cases you would like help or advice with please submit them to me.)

The Small Business Health Check  - checks the financial health of your business in terms of identifying the cost of just one day of absence for one employee. This simple resource was one of the resources you received when you signed up for this newsletter (if someone has forwarded this to you, sign up now on the right to receive your Special Report and other documents)

In the light of the Black Report, (Article: The Black Report: What is it?) identifying the possible economic cost to your business seems like a sensible place to start.

It is a bit like the preverbial ice berg, so assume that the results you get from this quick exercise are just the costs you can see, and not the ones hidden under the water. We'll talk more about those another time. For now, just remember that this figure is probably a rather conservative estimate!

You'll need to have some figures to hand so check out the document and come back when you have the figures: Then simply multiply the result by the number of days lost due to sickness in the last 12 months in your business. Perhaps a strong coffee and a sit down might help too.
